the proposal
one of the biggest surprises of all time
cory got home from his mission on december 2nd, 2011. he asked me to marry him on december 31 of 2011. the funniest thing was: i had nooo idea!! everyone in our families knew and they kept it such a good secret from me! this is the story of the proposal.
cory, kinzey and i went up to utah for a new years party. my uncle who lives in midway always has a crazy party which is always a good time. so we decided we might as well go up there and have some fun. while we were up there we were going to make it a point to go to the up house- inspired by the disney movie up. on one of our first dates we went to see up. we both loved it! so in utah it was only right that we toured the up inspired house.
5 guys burgers and fries!
we decided we wanted to go eat at 5 guys burgers and fries (yum) and then we would head on up the the up house. well my mom called and said i needed to run by costco for her because they were closing for the weekend and she needed some stuff. i was sooo annoyed but told her i would do it. well, i didn't have a costco card so i had to wait in a line for a good 30-45 minutes to get a card so i could go into costco and get whatever it was she needed. so once i had my card, i called her back and asked her what she needed. her answer? chocolate chips. are you serious?! she was dead serious. i finally found the chocolate chips (who knew costco was so freaking huge!!?) and called her to see if that was it. well then she said i needed some bread and that it'd be on the other side of the store. grrrreeeaaaaatttttt. cory and i walked to the other side of the store just to have an employee tell us the bread was actually on the side we just came from. uhm, thanks mom..? so we walked back and got some bread. i called my mom back up again and she said that was all. hallelujah! cory and i checked out and headed to the up house. we got there and were seriously blown away. it looked just like it! it was so cool!! i was taking pictures like crazy, so here are a few:
not a great pic, but this was right before we went into the up house
signing the "adventure book"
the nursery
carl and ellie's chairs
the kitchen was so cute
right before the big moment!
notice the balloons in the last picture? yeah i took this picture because it had the balloons and the mailbox. i thought it was adorable! turns out this was right before the "big moment"!! i still had no idea!
cory had my sister amberlee and kinzey get the balloons while we were eating and running errands for my mom
she called to stall us. she didn't really need chocolate chips or bread.
sneaky mom, sneaky.
of course, i said yes.
here is a video that amberlee or her husband korby took. notice kinzey in the background saying "i missed the whole thing!!" haha.
cory told me to look in the mailbox and i did not want to! especially since someone had already bought the house. i didn't want to rummage through their mail. however, there was no mail in there to my surprise. there was a ring box! i opened it up and it was... empty? i can't lie.. i told cory he was a loser (only because he had tricked me like that once before) he then got down on one knee and popped the question. it was adorable.
it was honestly, hands down, the best proposal ever. and i don't even think i am being biased about it! :)
